PRACTICAL TOOL
Bowling outing budget calculator
Estimate lanes, shoes, food, and a planning reserve using your own venue quotation. No live prices or reservations.
A lane-hour estimate
Lanes = bowlers ÷ planned bowlers per lane, rounded up. Lane charge = lanes × hours × cost per lane-hour. Add shoes and food for every counted bowler, then fixed shared extras. Apply the reserve percentage to that base. Divide the result by bowlers for the modeled per-person amount. A reserve is your planning choice and is not a venue-required charge.
Follow the default example
Eighteen bowlers at six per lane need three lanes. Two hours at an illustrative $35 per lane-hour cost $210. Shoes at $5 per bowler add $90, food at $10 per bowler adds $180, and $30 in fixed extras produces a $510 base. A 10% reserve adds $51. The modeled total is $561, or approximately $31.17 per bowler.
Confirm the venue’s actual arrangement
This tool models lane-hour pricing. A per-game price or a party package may require a different calculation. Confirm the center’s capacity, booking minimums, taxes, service charges, shoe arrangements, arrival instructions, and cancellation conditions. Enter any applicable unmodeled fixed cost in shared extras, or calculate it separately. Do not assume the example inputs are available local prices.
Count people consistently
Every counted person is modeled as a bowler who pays the entered shoe and food allowances. Non-bowling guests, different meal packages, people bringing acceptable shoes, and a smaller paying group require separate adjustments. The calculator neither checks live availability nor books lanes. Use the result as a draft budget to discuss with the actual venue and participants.
